My dear friend Kim MacNeill joins me today for a candid conversation about grief. As fellow hockey moms we share the love of hockey as our boys have played the sport. 8 years ago she lost her son Ross to a brain tumor.
I often have spoken with Kim about how I feel I have lost my daughter in a similar way albeit she is still alive, to this awful disorder of anorexia and OCD. Today the conversation is candid and raw and real. You will learn why mentioning the name of someone who has died to that loved on can be a gift.
I reference the podcast interview I did with with Claudia about grief. You will find it here. Grief: A way of showing how much you have loved.
Kim has gone on to found the R33M Foundation: the Ross L MacNeill Foundation to end pediatric brain cancer. Her work to bring awareness and raise funds for research is tireless. We will not forget Ross and the impact he had on the lives he touched.
If you are grieving, find support. There are many who will support you when you ask for her. It is deep and real and something that remains and yet we all need to tend the garden around the hole that remains.

Today you are in for a treat. I was approached by Michelles assistant as someone I may want to interview. When I read that Michelle has experienced 3 NDEs I was intrigued. Our conversation was wonderful and fascinating all at once. Before she came on to be interviewed, we spent some time connecting on zoom. It was right after my mom had passed and what I experienced what amazing.
What ever your belief, I encourage you to be open to what you hear. I believe in God and that we are all connected by the energies around us. And there are some things that we just can't explain and yet if we are open and listen to our intuition, there is so much that we can learn. I know you will enjoy today.
Michelle Clare is a Certified Medium, Angel Intuitive, Spiritual Coach, Energetic Healer, Intuitive Life Coach and 3 time Near Death Experience (NDE) survivor. She receives messages from loved ones who have crossed over, as well as Angels and Life Guides
In a span of 11 years she had 3 near death experiences, the first was in April 2000, the second was in May 2006 and a monumental life changing event in which Michelle suffered a traumatic brain injury on November 1, 2011. Shortly after this life altering event, she started receiving information for other people from their loved ones who had transitioned. All 3 NDEs were a reminder of an unconditional love and connection that surpasses our earthly life.
You can read more and connect with Michelle on her website. She offers reading, coaching and many other services.

Even with all the self care and meditation that we do, sometimes there is something more that can be adjusted for our brains to function better . Cindy and I talk about how if you keep putting premium fuel into your engine but your engine is not tuned properly, the effort is for naught.
The discussion is rich and extensive. I mentioned a therapy that has helped our sons with brain health healing after concussions from hockey.
We also talk supplements that are necessary and recommended for better brain health.
Cindy studied with Dr. Amen. His site is here. https://brainmd.com/
I also highly recommend the Shaklee brand of supplements when talking about Fish oil, B vitamins, a good multi vitamin and gut health probiotics. You will find them all here on my site.
There also is a FREE Health Quiz you can take to determine a personalized plan for you.
Cindy Shaw is the founder of the Better Brain Academy. As a brain health coach and mental performance trainer, she helps people improve their lives by blending leading-edge neuroscience, brain health and self-improvement strategies that help individuals naturally overcome mental health disorders, supercharge their energy and focus, and optimize their well-being.

That is a an old Beatles song right? We all get by with a little from our friends.
Through the struggles of my daughter and her eating disorder and the death of my mom, I have seen the impact that having good friends surrounding you can have on your life. Eating disorders and addictions can cause chaos in your life. And they leave you feeling along and scared and experiencing things you never imagined. During this time I have reached out numerous time to ask for help for me or my daughter. And my Shaklee family of friends has stepped up in a way I never imagined. You will hear those stories today.
And I have learned the hard way that is is tough to ask for help, We look at ourselves at weak and incapable if we need help, Yet so many are willing to help if we are just brave enough to ask.
Take a listen and share with me your takeaways...and your experiences with your friends and help. And be a good friend today.

Grief and bereavement related to addiction and recovery was the start of my conversation with Nicholas Goodman . Nicholas is an Addiction Counsellor, Massage Therapist, Hospice Worker, Author, Troubadour, Poet and Writer. Nicholas Goodman has a background in massage therapy and psychotherapy. He has worked in hospice centers and has led therapeutic retreats in the American Southwest. In his work, he provides spiritual and emotional care to his clients, and has been privileged to companion clients from initial diagnosis to the moment of death. Our conversation was deep and therapeutic as I recorded this 1 week after the death of my mother.
What are the necessary sacrifices that one must make when they decide to come clean and sober.
And there is the hope of stepping into the promised land of a better life.
You can find more of Nicholas on his site.
You will find his book called A Moment with Grace.
You can also find him on Facebook.

Larry Brasfield shares his story today on my show. As he shares he believes that his addictions are a result of early childhood trauma. Being in and out of room so the 12 step programs the last many years have been a life saver for him. Mind, Body and spirit healing is the 3 legged stool of recovery for Larry.
Real talk here ...trigger warning if you have been through sexual abuse and traumas.
I know you will find it helpful and insightful as Larry shares.
EMDR is a great therapy that can help you uncover childhood trauma and reprocess and heal. Big T or little t traumas have great impact that can predispose us to addictive behaviors.
The Body Keeps the Score is a book that talks through childhood traumas and experiences.

The first 200+ pound weight loss contestant from Extreme Makeover Weight loss edition Jacqui McCoy joins me today. I heard her story while at a Shaklee convention and we immediately struck by her honesty and truth she spoke about how this experience which should have been such a high point, lead to years of more struggle with body image and weight and so much more.
We have become close over the years and I am honored that Jacqui is able to share with you today her story. She has gotten through the tough spots of counting calories and workouts and working so hard for something that she thought she wanted to achieve. The television show left her with her own eating disorder and much to learn about health. There were SO many extremes that they were expected to accomplish. She didn't even know how to be healthy after all that.
I know you will love this episode not just about the show but really about the NOW!!
You can find Jacqui on Facebook and IG here.
