I bring you Simone and her story today. A gal from down under, truly grateful to be connected to share her story.
When Simone was young, she thought she knew who she was. Now she has no idea. A cacophony of life circumstance combined with chronic sleep deprivation impacted Simone’s mental health through depression, anxiety and disordered eating. Her mental health crumbled, culminating in three psychiatric inpatient admissions and she is now wading through the recovery road. She shares that her eating disorder at age 4 weeks and raised on the fact that you can never be too rich or too thin.
Simone spent more than three decades teaching and performing the flute before transitioning into writing and editing by completing a Masters in Journalism and working with a mentor. Stalked by Demons | Guarded by Angels: The Girl with the Eating Disorder is her first book.
I can relate to the title of her book as I've seen with so many others stories as well as my daughters journey. Thank God that the angels have guarded all of use along the ways of our journey of life.
Simone is married to a very devoted man, admired for his strength, intelligence, resilience, loyalty and honesty. Together they’ve brought into this world three incredibly smart, sassy, funny, difficult, tall and loving young men. They’re intensely proud of them.

This week is Eating Disorder Awareness week. Eating Disorders are serious and life threatening mental health conditions. As a college student, I developed an eating disorder in a time when I had low self esteem and feeling out of control in my life. Our daughter continues on her recovery journey and I have learned so much during these last 6 years.
I share so that others can learn more about this insidious disorder that impacts 30 millions of Americans of all ages and genders.
This years theme is NOT ONE MORE.....not one more girl or boy be taken into the grips of an eating disorder. I got a call from a local mom a couple weeks ago saying that she just learned about her daughters eating disorder and she was pretty distraught. I was so mad as ONE MORE....was taken into this awful disorder. Let's learn more so that we can do better.
Some have asked about what to look for with eating disorders. I share some tips and facts about disorders. Please learn and share with others.
Feel like you want to support?
Please consider contributing to my fundraiser for the Alliance .The Alliance is the only national nonprofit organization that provides free, weekly, therapist-led eating disorders support groups; referral services for all levels of care; low-cost therapeutic services for uninsured and underinsured individuals; and unique and empowering Southern Smash events. I have loved my experiences in ballroom dance lessons since August 2020. I had the privilege of entering a regional competition a couple weeks ago and had a wonderful time. So many things came up for me that day as well as the days leading up to the competition day. I wonder if you can relate that the things I share.
The way we do one thing is the way we do everything. As I have shared before, it's not all the steps that I am learning for the waltz or tango or Foxtrot, it's what i am learning about myself, my life, the way I show up in life, business and all that.
And these experiences have brought up my fears and my reflections on my inner child, that little girl that years ago just wanted to be seen for who she was , the uniqueness and creative spirit that lived inside her.
What are your red light stories? Are you telling yourself stories that are keeping you held back in life? What are you stopping yourself from doing and experiencing?
I so appreciate all your support and love that you have given me on social and with calls and texts. I look forward to many more wonderful dance experiences.
What are you doing to challenge yourself? What stories are you telling yourself? Are you making mistakes and yet learning and moving forward?

Wednesday Feb 17, 2021
Most of the time I have not trouble sleep. But of late with the pandemic and things changing, I have been challenged with sometimes getting to sleep as well as staying asleep. Perhaps you have the same issues.
On this wellness Wednesday episode, I share some tips i have found naturally that are helping me. Sleep is so important for all of us as a form of rest and repair. The long-term effects of sleep deprivation are real. Memory issues, risk of heart disease, weakened immunity , poor balance, weight gain and risk of accidents being some,,
If you have chronic issues, I recommend you go see a professional. IN the meantime try a few of these tips and see if you can't have a more restful night sleep.
I mention a couple Shaklee products. Stress Relief complex and Gentle sleep Complex. Find them here and give them a try as a natural solution.

Today I am stepping on the dance floor as I participate in my first ballroom dance competition. I thought it only fitting to share this episode with Ann as well have a real talk about body image, body loathing and how we as women feel about ourselves.
In in 20+ years working with women 1 on 1 , Clothing Designer and Professional Image coach, my guest Ann Andrews noticed a troubling pattern, She became acutely aware that most women she worked with felt uncomfortable, in some way with the way they looked. Because this mirrored her own journey, Ann took a deep dive into the word Beauty, unpacking the question: Why is it that so many women feel badly about our appearance?
I mention the documentary Embrace , a documentary from 2016 . Embrace follows body image activist Taryn Brumfitt's crusade as she explores the global issue of body loathing, inspiring us to change the way we feel about ourselves and think about our bodies.
Now that she's on the other side of this question, Ann speaks on this topic hoping to change the conversion and the consciousness around Beauty. She is the first to note that the negative feelings women carry ARE NOT OUR FAULT and has found a way to help us unplug from impossible cultural standards, see ourselves in a new way and discover HOW to Show Up in a manner that brings more Confidence, Authenticity and Beauty in our lives.
Ann wholeheartedly believes that Beauty is essential to our wellbeing and is far more than something we see. She has us consider that Beauty is something we feel, something we experience, And when we are not alignment with authentic self-expression, our self image suffer adversely affecting our confidence, credibility and success.

Eli Bremer is simply amazing. As a modern pentathlete, he fences, swims, rides a horse, runs, and shoots all in a single day’s competition. He’s also the captain of the Shaklee Pure Performance Team. It’s hard to believe that this top-ranking athlete went from being an overweight kid with limited athletic ability to competing among the world’s best in the Beijing Games in 2008.
For Eli, it’s about setting goals and having something to work toward. “Waking up every morning, knowing that you’re going to represent your country is pretty motivating,” he says.
You will be inspired as you listen to his journey and how being fatigued and left to wonder if you could make it to the Olympics to compete, he found the power of health and wellness and nutrition to be the key. And not only any nutrition but the power of Shaklee products. Safe , tested and backed by science, Shaklee products continue to fuel athletes like Eli, the Olympics athletes who have decided to partner with Shaklee on the Pure Performance team and folks like you and me.
You will love hearing what my sons Air Force recruiter said about protein to him.
You will be inspired to not take what you eat and drink for granted.
And I encourage you to take five minutes to do this assessment and find what nutrients from Shaklee can truly help you perform at your best.

Wellness Wednesday: Do you ever feel numb and how do you find support??
Wednesday Jan 20, 2021
Wednesday Jan 20, 2021
This experience of life and caregiver with a child with a life threatening mental health disorder leads you to times of feeling numb. I've been there .
And I was reminded recently as I was in that space again, all the times that I have that do support me.
1. Women Circle: Nancy Hill runs womens circles and I have been blessed o be a part of for a little more than 2 years. Her book is Unfolding and you can find it here
2. Prayer partners and warriors. Blessed to find women who I can call or text and who will get busy in prayer.
3. Keep your spark going
Life can be a roller coasting . I've learned it's so important to take care of ourselves and not be afraid to ask for help or support when we need it. And the more self care we do, the better able we are to handle life.
Listen in and take care of you . And reach out for more connections
